   historical zoology: an animal parasite living inside another animal, especially an intestinal or tissue-dwelling worm

   The nineteenth-century report identified the worm as an entozoon living in the sheep's brain.

Formed from Greek entos, 'within,' + zoon, 'animal.' Older zoologists grouped many internal animal parasites as Entozoa; modern classification distributes them among several unrelated groups.
