Etymology

Borrowed through French rhombe and Latin rhombus from Greek rhombos, a spinning object or circular motion. Geometry applied the name to the equal-sided parallelogram. Rhomb is a shorter doublet of rhombus and is also used for a rhombohedral crystal form.
