   The male tragopan spread his spotted plumage and inflated his blue throat lappet during courtship.

From New Latin Tragopan, taken from Latin tragopan and Greek tragopan, the name of a fabulous horned bird, formed from tragos, 'he-goat,' + Pan, the horned pastoral god. The old name was transferred to the Asian pheasants because of the male's hornlike head processes.
