   In the central flowers, the botanist found coelospermous fruits with deeply curved inner faces.

Formed from scientific coelo-, from Greek koilos ("hollow"), and -spermous, from Greek sperma ("seed"). Nineteenth-century botanists used the term in classifications of the carrot family for fruits whose seed face is hollow or curved inward.
