   Copernican astronomy displaced geocentrism by placing Earth among the planets orbiting the Sun.

From geocentric + -ism. Geocentric combines geo-, from Ancient Greek ge ("earth"), with centric, from Greek kentron ("center"). The term names Earth-centered cosmological systems, especially the Ptolemaic model.
