   a person who practices polyandry; in its marital sense, a woman who has more than one husband at the same time

   The anthropologist described each polyandrist in the community as being married to two brothers.

Formed in the nineteenth century from polyandry + -ist. Polyandry combines Greek poly-, "many," with anēr, andros, "man or husband"; -ist denotes a person who practices or is associated with something.
