   The council voted to reimpose the levy after the emergency fund was exhausted.

Formed from re-, 'again,' + impose. Impose came through French imposer and was remodelled on Latin imponere, 'to put upon,' from in-, 'on,' + ponere, 'put.' Reimpose therefore literally means to put a charge or requirement upon someone again.
