   The male babirusa turned sideways, revealing the tusks arcing toward its forehead.

Borrowed through scientific Latin from Malay babi rusa, literally "deer pig," from babi ("pig") + rusa ("deer"). The name refers to the animal's unusual, antler-like upper tusks.
