   The entrance hall was emblazoned with the arms of the founding family.

Formed from en- ("put on, cause to be") + blazon. Blazon came from Old French blason ("shield, coat of arms") and developed the specialized sense of describing or depicting heraldic arms. Emblazon later broadened from heraldic decoration to any prominent inscription or display.
