   The museum mounted an allosaurus skeleton beside the remains of its herbivorous prey.

From New Latin Allosaurus, formed from Greek allos ("other, different") + sauros ("lizard"). Othniel Charles Marsh named the genus in 1877 for vertebrae that differed from those of dinosaurs then known.
