   Russell rejects the anthropomorphic idea that physical causes aim deliberately at their effects.

From anthropomorphous + -ic, built from Ancient Greek anthropos ("human being") + morphe ("form, shape"). The term first described gods represented in human form and later broadened to any projection of human traits onto the nonhuman.
